Explanation

The Error shown in the figure above describes that the component was not properly installed during the Exchange 2007 Setup. The event id provides the information about the reasons why the component was not installed. There can be different errors linked with this event.

This common error in clustered environment indicates that W3SVC , HTTP SSL & IISAdmin services are not enabled on the passive mode.

To determine other causes of this very Setup failure error, check the Exchange setup log files. The logging method is set to verbose for setup log files of Exchange. The below mentioned lines will provide information about each setup log files:

  • ExchangeSetup.log:-  
    This log file keeps the track of progress of each task which is performed during the installation & configuration of Exchange Server 2007. These files contain the prerequisite status & the system-readiness checks which are generally performed before the installation start, the installation progress & the change made to the system after configuration. Go for the check of these files to verify that whether the server roles are installed or not.
  • ExchangeSetup.msilog:-
    These files contain the details regarding the extraction of the Exchange Server 2007 code from installer file.

Resolution

For resolving these installation or setup error, do the steps as follows:

  • First of all, if you found the error is related to the disabled service, then set these services- W3SVC, IISAdmin & HTTP SSL to Autonatic.
  • Thereafter, check the setup log files of Exchange Server.
  • Use the information available in the event to find again the reason for the error.

After doing all these steps, run the setup again. The setup will start from the position where it was left off.
